What's the deal with Conscientious?

You're probably wondering what happened to Conscientious, and why all you're seeing right now is this. Here's why.

I won't go into too many details (because the past two days have been unbelievably frustrating for me), but in a nutshell, my hosting had a total meltdown, and they have so far failed to bring my site back up properly (at the time of this writing hundreds of other people are still down). I spent a lot of time trying to get things running again by calling them etc., but it hasn't been much of a success.

I am being told that eventually, my site will be back up; and I'm really hoping that is true, since my own personal backups at home only covers the text of the blog and none of the images (well, that's what you have your hosting's backup for, right? of course, if they don't do it right...). But the text is harder to bring back than the images; and in the worst case there'll be weeks and weeks of fixing posts for me.

So I'm currently in the process of trying to get my site/data back up, even in some slightly older form. I'll reconstruct what has to be reconstructed once things are back up. I will also move the blog as soon as I can to other hosting (that's already arranged). All the relevant information will eventually re-surface again, even though it might take a few days or a week (hopefully not much more) for that to happen. Right now, their "backup" gave me an empty page.

It's all unbelievably frustrating, and I can only recommend to stay away from Mediatemple: In my ten years of doing work online I've never experienced such a massive failure before.

In the meantime, look for blog posts here...

Nope, this is just temporary since I have way too many other things to worry about.

Sorry to hear about your troubles but as I was considering mediatemple for a new project, I'm glad to be warned off.

I'm sure you're getting tons of recommendations but I've had nothing but good expeirences with Lunar Pages hosting for Gallery Hopper. http://www. lunarpages.com
